Empowering Jamaican Women and Girls
Founded in 2016 by author and activist Shelly-Ann Weeks, the HerFlow Foundation is dedicated to empowering Jamaican women and girls through comprehensive reproductive health education, mentorship, and advocacy.
HerFlow’s flagship initiative, End Period Poverty JA, is committed to ensuring that no girl or woman is held back due to a lack of access to menstrual products. Through advocacy, education, and direct support, this initiative strives to promote menstrual equity and empower individuals to manage their periods with dignity.
Since its inception, HerFlow has distributed millions of menstrual products to Jamaican public schools, government facilities, community organizations, clinics, prisons, and individuals in need. Beyond product donations, HerFlow has conducted hundreds of workshops and educational sessions across the country, fostering awareness, breaking stigmas, and empowering communities with vital knowledge on menstrual and reproductive health.

Our History
No matter how little you have, there is always something to share
Guided by her great grandmother’s profound wisdom, “no matter how little you have, there is always something to share,” HerFlow’s founder envisions a future where free menstrual products are accessible to all Jamaicans who need them, with female reproductive health education and resources integrated into social relief programmes.
So since its inception in 2016, the HerFlow Foundation has played an instrumental role in the fight against period poverty by providing seven million free feminine hygiene products and establishing safe spaces for educating students on period poverty and menstrual hygiene.
Through projects such as ‘End Period Poverty JA’, ‘Celebrate Her,’ the ‘Live Safe’ college tour, ‘Leaders Who Bleed’, Period Awareness Day activities, and other initiatives, the foundation has made a significant impact on public schools, government homes, shelters, prisons, community organisations, and individuals in need.
