HerFlow Foundation has launched its Recover with Dignity Campaign, a humanitarian initiative aimed at ensuring women and girls affected by Hurricane Melissa have access to essential menstrual and personal care items as part of ongoing recovery efforts.
While food, water, and shelter are often prioritized in disaster response, menstrual health needs are frequently overlooked—placing women and girls at increased risk of infection, stigma, and loss of dignity. Recover with Dignity addresses this critical gap by treating menstrual products as essential relief supplies.
Since the passage of Hurricane Melissa, HerFlow Foundation has already distributed over 300,000 menstrual products and 2,000 panties, along with personal care items, to affected communities—particularly in St. Elizabeth and surrounding areas.
“Periods do not stop during disasters, and recovery cannot be complete without dignity,” said Shelly-Ann Weeks, Executive Director of HerFlow Foundation. “This campaign ensures that women and girls are not forced to choose between health, safety, and basic self-care while rebuilding their lives.”
In January 2026, HerFlow will expand its efforts through targeted distributions to 10 schools and communities impacted by the hurricane. Each recipient will receive a three-month supply of disposable menstrual products along with essential hygiene items, supporting both health and continued participation in school and community life.
The Recover with Dignity Campaign also advocates for gender-responsive disaster planning, calling on policymakers, relief agencies, and partners to formally recognize menstrual products as essential items in emergency response.
HerFlow Foundation is inviting corporate partners, donors, and community stakeholders to support the campaign through financial contributions, in-kind donations, and strategic partnerships.
