HerFlow Foundation Delivers Dignity and Education to South Camp Correctional Centre for Women

As a part of its steadfast commitment to menstrual equity the HerFlow Foundation made its by annual donation to the South Camp Adult Correctional Center for Women, reaffirming that dignity, health, and access to menstrual care are fundamental rights no matter one’s circumstance.

On June 23rd 2025, HerFlow delivered 36 cases of sanitary napkins and 5 cases of tampons to the facility.  This donation is one of two made annually – in June and December – as a part of the Foundation’s ongoing effort to support the menstrual health needs of incarcerated women in Jamaica.  Since 2019, HerFlow has remained dedicated to this mission, consistently advocating for dignity, access, and reproductive justice within correctional institutions.

Going beyond the product distribution, Shelly-Ann Weeks, Executive Director of HerFlow Foundation, facilitated A dynamic educational session with correctional officers and a few selected inmates.  This session addressed key topics such as managing healthier periods as well as navigating and understanding the often-overlooked stages of perimenopause and menopause – creating a supportive space for open dialogue and empowerment.

Superintendent N. Campbell, Head of the South Camp Adult Correctional Centre, expressed Deep appreciation for the longstanding partnership with HerFlow:

“As the Superintendent of the South Camp Adult Correctional Centre I send a sincere thanks to HerFlow for their ongoing partnership and generous donations of sanitary napkins and tampons. These contributions have significantly improved the quality of life for both our staff and the women in our custody. Access to menstrual product is a matter of dignity, health and human rights; and this initiative helps to ensure those in need are respectfully met within our institution. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to compassion, equity, and basic human rights to menstrual health.”

This ongoing initiative is a part of HerFlow Foundation’s nationwide effort to end period poverty by providing consistent access education and advocacy across marginalized the population including schools shelters and correctional institutions.

HerFlow continues to urge corporate Jamaica community leaders and the citizens to join in this mission to ensure that every Jamaican has access to a dignified. No matter where they live or what their circumstances may be.
