The HerFlow Foundation proudly introduced the EmpowerHer Award at Celebrate Her 2025, marking a new milestone in recognizing and fostering young leadership. Supported by the Canadian High Commission, this inaugural award honors young girls who are already making a profound impact in their communities through advocacy, service, and leadership.

The EmpowerHer Award is designed to highlight the remarkable efforts of young change agents who prove that service knows no age. These inspiring individuals use their time, talents, and resources to advocate for important causes, support those in need, and lead initiatives that create meaningful change. By recognizing their extraordinary contributions, the HerFlow Foundation aims to amplify their voices, inspire their peers, and provide them with opportunities to expand their impact.

The Best Working Girls (B.W.G.) – Young Philanthropists Making an Impact
A special highlight of this year’s EmpowerHer Award is The Best Working Girls (B.W.G.), a group of five young philanthropists from St. Hugh’s Preparatory School who took extraordinary initiative to support Jamaican farmers affected by Hurricane Beryl. Inspired by a United Way initiative, these 10- and 11-year-olds organized a bake sale, using their skills and creativity to raise funds for disaster relief.
Their dedication and generosity exemplify the true spirit of civic engagement and social responsibility. By turning a simple idea into an impactful initiative, the B.W.G. proved that even the youngest voices can drive meaningful change. Their efforts not only provided much-needed support but also set an inspiring example for their peers and future generations.
“The EmpowerHer Award is more than just a recognition; it is a call to action for young leaders to continue making a difference,” said Shelly-Ann Weeks, Founder and Executive Director of the HerFlow Foundation. “These young women are proof that leadership is not defined by age but by the willingness to serve, uplift, and create change. We also applaud their parents for supporting their passion.”
Empowering the Next Generation
With the support of the Canadian High Commission, the EmpowerHer Award will continue to highlight and invest in young leaders who are shaping the future of Jamaica. This initiative is part of the HerFlow Foundation’s broader mission to empower individuals, advocate for gender equity, and create lasting social impact.
As the HerFlow Foundation expands its outreach, it remains committed to equipping young changemakers with the tools, mentorship, and opportunities they need to continue transforming lives. The EmpowerHer Award is just the beginning of a movement that will inspire and uplift generations to come.
