HerFlow Foundation executed its impactful Periods Don’t Stop for 5Ks initiative at the Sigma Run 2025 on Sunday February 5, 2025, reaffirming its mission to raise awareness about menstrual health, equity and provide essential period products to those in need. This year, HerFlow offered free menstrual products, including tampons, pantyliners, and wipes, to participants who required them during the event, ensuring that no one was left without the resources to manage their period with dignity.
The initiative, executed in collaboration with the 2025 Miss Universe Jamaica East Competition, saw contestants actively engaging with participants to spread awareness, encourage open dialogue, and reinforce the powerful message that #PeriodsDontStopFor5Ks. Their presence highlighted the importance of unity and advocacy in breaking the stigma around menstruation and empowering Jamaicans to live with dignity.
“Periods don’t stop—not for school, work, or even a 5K race. That’s why our mission goes beyond raising awareness. We aim to ensure that everyone has access to the products and education they need to live confidently and with dignity,” said Shelly-Ann Weeks, Founder and Executive Director of HerFlow Foundation.
Addressing the stigma and shame surrounding periods is a critical step toward ensuring menstrual equity for all Jamaicans. “At events like the Sigma Run, we have a unique opportunity to normalize conversations about menstruation while providing much-needed resources to those who need them most. Periods don’t stop for 5Ks, and neither does our commitment to breaking barriers and empowering individuals to live with dignity.” An emphatic Weeks continued.
HerFlow wishes to also express gratitude to its corporate sponsors, who played an integral role in the outreach efforts. Their support helped amplify the message, raise awareness, and advocate for menstrual health equity. This collaboration underscores the power of partnerships in driving meaningful change.
With over 10 million menstrual products donated to date, HerFlow continues to lead the charge against period poverty in Jamaica, ensuring that menstruation is never a barrier to opportunity or dignity.
