Kingston, Jamaica – August 30, 2024: HerFlow Foundation, in collaboration with Libresse, continues its mission to end period poverty in Jamaica with a generous donation of 1,000 menstrual products to the SOS Children’s Village in Stony Hill. This initiative, part of HerFlow’s larger drive to support underserved communities, aims to ensure that girls have access to the resources they need to manage their periods with dignity and without interruption to their education and personal growth.
The donation will benefit upwards of 150 girls, as the SOS Children’s Village plans to share the products with their sister home, the Homestead Girls Home, also located in Stony Hill. During the handover ceremony, HerFlow’s Executive Director, Shelly-Ann Weeks, presented the products and gifted the Director of SOS Children’s Village copies of her educational book, It’s My Body. Period., which will be used to educate the girls on menstrual health and self-care.
“Menstrual health is an essential part of overall well-being, and no girl should have to face shame or barriers because of her period,” said Shelly-Ann Weeks. “This partnership with Libresse demonstrates the power of collaboration in tackling period poverty. Together, we’re empowering young girls to thrive, regardless of their circumstances.”
Creating a Ripple Effect
The Director of SOS Children’s Village, Jason Brown who received the donation, highlighted the far-reaching impact of the contribution.

“This generous donation from HerFlow and Libresse will not only support the girls here at SOS but will also extend to the Homestead Girls Home, allowing us to reach even more young women in need,” he said. “We are incredibly grateful for this support, which helps us to provide our girls with the tools they need to feel confident and secure.”
Libresse’s Commitment to Menstrual Equity

We’re proud to play a role in this impactful work.”
